WJS Scholarship Fund
SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The WJS Education Scholarships Fund provides up to $7,500 in education scholarships to WJS employees (or their relatives) every year. The selection committee is now accepting applications for 2018.
The WJS Scholarship Fund are generously funded through voluntary contributions from employees, matched dollar for dollar by WJS. The fund includes nine Charlene Howe Memorial Scholarships of $500 each and three William Stelmaschuk Scholarships of $1,000 each. They are available to assist students with their post-secondary education.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be employed or relative of employee employed by WJS for a minimum of one year
- Applicants must have contributed toward the Scholarship fund or be a relative of an employee that has contributed to the Scholarship fund
- Participation in a full time or part time program of study that relates to human sciences is required

Selection
Applicants are selected based on the following four criteria:
- Participation in studies that relate to the humanities
- Applicant’s contribution to the community through voluntary participation
- Applicant’s personal achievements
- When all else is equal, length of service of the employee will affect the decision making process meaning employees or relatives of employees who have worked for the organization for a more lengthy period will take priority
Notes
- Any information provided may be subject to authentication
- Attach a copy/copies of proof of education when you submit your application
- Applicants are eligible to apply and receive awards more than once, however priority will be given to first time applicants
- Successful applicants will be notified of the committee’s decision within a month of the application date
