Welcome Randey Ferster
Welcome Randey Ferster
We’re pleased to introduce and welcome Randey Ferster to our WJS Canada family as our new Program Director for Child and Family Services in Alberta. Randey comes to us with 25+ years of public sector health care management experience of which most has been in less urban areas. This is combined with the same amount of years of private sector management of entrepreneurial interests. Randey’s expertise is in Program/Service development and Human Resources management. Randey’s agreed to a short Q and A to help everyone get to know him better.
Q: What’s your new role at WJS?
I serve as the Program Director for High Prairie, Slave Lake (and Wabasca).
Q: What do you think makes WJS different from other organizations?
As a private sector service provider WJS has the ability to quickly adapt to change, encourages and supports staff in all areas of the agency, and always strives for excellence.
Q: Why did you want to work with WJS Canada?
WJS enjoys a very positive reputation! Family members, who are in the health care and social services delivery field, in both BC and AB encouraged me to apply as they knew of WJS in their respective communities. Also, the entrepreneurial base of WJS appealed to me. Many in my family are entrepreneurs, including my wife and I. We both have the unique combination of having many years of public sector healthcare management and private sector interests. So, given the philosophy, culture, values, and reputation of WJS, and my values, experience and skill set, I applied!
Q: What’s the most important part of your role?
Good Question! I believe there is more than one aspect of my position – to be a strong positive representative for the Agency and to support my team and colleagues to the best of my ability.
Q: Will you share something about you that we may not already know?
My family has a long history of community service. The entrepreneurial spirit and initiative, combined with a strong work ethic, has provided many opportunities for which we are grateful. There is the familial expectation that one contributes back to one’s community. This has been practiced for many generations and continues to be passed on to each new generation.
Q: What do you do outside of work?
In addition to tending to our businesses, GOLF, reading, my wife and I enjoy entertaining and find cooking very relaxing and a great way to spend time together.
Let’s give Randey a big WJS Canada welcome.
