Policy Spotlight – Policy 6.019 Respectful Workplace
Policy 6.019 Respectful Workplace
To help everyone at WJS be aware and knowledgeable about our company policies (remember, not knowing about a policy is not an excuse for violating a policy) we’ll be spotlighting a different policy every month.
Since Pink Shirt Day is on the 28th, it’s a good time to talk about Policy 6.019 Respectful Workplace.
This policy follows the first principle of WJS Code of Ethic and Values: “WJS employees and associates will treat every individual, colleague or person receiving service with respect, and avoid actions that harm or may cause harm to others. They will behave in a manner that observes and complies with all legal, moral and ethical standards applicable to their professions, including individual Codes of Ethics of their professional associations or liaisons.”
Everyone has a role to play in creating a respectful and professional workplace. Bullying and harassment, including sexual harassment, are not tolerated. Staff are expected to ensure their words and actions with peers create a respectful and professional workplace.
The policy provides a comprehensive list of behaviours that are not appropriate in any form within WJS. If directed toward persons receiving service, these behaviours will be regarded as abuse and will be subject to disciplinary and legal action as appropriate.
If directed toward other persons – other employees, stakeholders, community members, persons from other agencies, etc. – they will be regarded as a breach of ethics and be subject to disciplinary action.
Remember, be kind. Nice needs no filter. The full policy is located on K-Base. Employees are encouraged to speak with their supervisors if they have any questions about this or any other policy.
Is there a policy you’d like clarification on or think needs to be highlighted? Send a message to tgebrail@wjscanada.com. Thank you!
