Microsoft SharePoint: Team Empowerment and Collaboration
Now that everybody is (hopefully!) adjusted to using MS Office 365, the Organizational Development Team is now working on building out our SharePoint Site.
SharePoint is a great tool for team collaboration. It’s the industry standard for intranets and project-related communications. SharePoint is one of the best tools on the market to improve office and project productivity.
Documents can easily be uploaded and then worked on by multiple users without the hassle of having several versions of the document floating around. As well, many of us are on the road, and not always office-based. Because SharePoint is a web application, it’s accessible on any device, all that’s needed is an internet connection.
SharePoint not only provides large file storage (goodbye, K-Base!) it’s fully integrated with MS Office 365’s tools. It also brings together dispersed teams which makes it perfect for WJS Canada.
SharePoint will become the centralized hub for all of WJS Canada communications. It will be the source for all things WJS.
Right now, the SharePoint Project team is working with SmartData Software Services to customize SharePoint to WJS Canada’s needs.
The project team includes Linda Burrough, Darren Caines, Lisa Cardinal, Sheldon Chartrand, Theresa Gebrail, Alex Hayer, Verna Longmore, Cassie McCaffrey, Debbie Olinyk, Donna Phillips, Steve Quin, Peter Sidhu, Lynn Wanamaker, Ashley Williamson, Dawn Yuen, Gray Sky Consulting (Tech Support).
A big thanks to Vegreville PPD and CFS employees who are our guinea pigs for the project. Their input will help create the document storage template that will be used across all program areas.
As project leader, I want to express my thanks to the team for being enthusiastic champions of this important project. Stay tuned, there’s more news to share!
Ian Doyle,
Chief of Organizational Development
