Looking Back, Moving Forward
WJS Canada is recording its colourful and illustrious history! The History Project, led by Lyn Policha and Peter Farnden, will capture the information, learnings, and stories on which WJS was built.
The project is timely as several long-time employees and founding members of WJS Canada have retired over the past few years, and others will be leaving soon. With these founders becoming less accessible as time passes, we may lose the opportunity to record important past experiences. With the ‘passing of the guard’, there is the real possibility that key learnings from the past will be lost.
Peter and Lyn will be writing a comprehensive narrative of the WJS history that weaves together our stories, events, and historical documents, and acknowledges the contributions of the founders, long-term employees, and stakeholders. The history highlights the significant people, events, and milestones of WJS Canada since it began.
Over the next few months, they will be conducting interviews with some of our long-term employees, both present and past. Think about your own time with WJS and, if you have a story or photos you want to share, please send them to Lyn Policha. Remember, if it wasn’t for people—staff, persons served, stakeholders and communities—WJS wouldn’t exist. Your memories contribute to our collective history.
