Keep calm and Christmas on

Staff members and clients from across the agency have officially been placed on the “nice” list for helping out local families with Christmas Hampers.

Edmonton

Programs 303/302/397 and the Edmonton office worked together to gather items to create a Christmas Hamper for a family in Edmonton. Staff made Christmas merry and bright with a large box of gifts and two full grocery bags of extra snacks and treats. Brooke Muntz was excited to help participate in the delivery of the hamper with the Team Leader Nicole Radics and her daughter Raya.

Maple Ridge

Staff members at Central Admin banded together to help out a local family in need. They created a hamper with all the fixings for Christmas dinner and presents for Mom and the kids. On the 18th, everyone gathered in the boardroom for a potluck (thanks to Debbie for the yummy chili!) and gift wrapping party.

Spirit of our Youth

Lois White, Tracy MacDonald and Cheryl Jansen organized the “Spirit of Giving” event on behalf of Spirit of Our Youth.  They filled gift bags of presents for people who are homeless and made turkey sandwiches from turkeys they cooked themselves. They not only personally donated money and items, they shook down their own families as well as other staff members for donations.

The best part is they involved the youth in our care with all the preparation and delivery of the gift bags.  Says Barb Lessard, “It’s rare when youth who are usually at the receiving end of charity get a chance to give back. It was a powerful experience for all.”
