William Hames, Leena Alex, Michelle Wass, and Eric Taylor attended the 20th Annual Child and Youth Care Conference earlier this month. The theme of the conference was Transitions and Transformations: Influencing Change Through Relational Practice. WJS Canada was a Silver Level Sponsor of the Conference.

Says William: “It was an amazing experience with keynote speakers from across the country and a plethora of workshops on any number of topics you could think of, including Emotional Intelligence, Supervisory Skills, The Digital Age in Child and Youth Care, the trafficking of children and youth, Trans-youth, Aboriginal Culture in Child and Youth Care, just to name a few.

Participants flew in from across the country and it was exciting to hear the similarities and differences that other professionals deal with on a day to day basis with children and youth. It really was an invaluable experience that I cherished. I look forward to reconnecting with those I met at the conference and learning more that could be of benefit to the WJS family.”

Eric Taylor also attended: “I wanted to send you a message to say thank you for sending me to the CYC Conference last week. It was AMAZING!!!!! So many takeaways and I can’t wait to share my learning with our team at Sumas! Those four days were absolutely life changing. I left feeling lit up, inspired, passionate, and like I absolutely could (and SHOULD) go out and change the world.”
