Bigger or Better

Bigger or Better

Things have been pretty busy here at Mains! Both youth have been keeping active ALL summer, as well as participating in some super fun day camp programs.

We also played a game a few weeks ago called “Bigger or Better” for the first time with the youth and it was a huge hit! Essentially, the premise is that you begin with giving the youth a paper clip and they go around the neighbourhood knocking on doors and asking if people have something bigger or better than that item to trade. If they do, you take that item to the next house and do it again and again until you’re either tired, run out of houses or are content with the item you have! The youth LOVED this, we ended up with some funny stuff (pictured: A statue, a book of exercises and what we think is possibly some sort of Asian coffee maker? Still unsure about that one, haha)

Through the summer, we’ve also been working on some new recipes by trial and error and have come to love homemade caramel popcorn, hot chocolate, iced tea and pizzas made with Naan bread. All sugar-free and fun!

We’re starting to get excited for school coming back soon, well, perhaps the staff are more excited than the youth, haha. But they ARE excited about getting to go school supply shopping, so there’s that! We are looking into setting them up with some fun after-school programs throughout the fall season, so we’ll keep things busy around here. Just the way we like it! I hope everyone else’s school year starts out great as well!
