New Faces at WJS: Welcome Ian Doyle
Welcome Ian Doyle
Ian Doyle recently joined our team as the new Chief of Organizational Development. Now that he’s settled in a bit we wanted to get to know him a little better with a short Q&A.
Q. What is special/different about WJS? What drew you to the organization?
A. From the start I’ve been impressed with the breadth of service we offer and the how importance that work is. The social value WJS creates is in line with my own personal values, so you could say the position is a perfect fit.
Also, WJS is employee-owned. I’ve seen the value this model creates for both individuals and the organization. Everyone truly cares about the work and the company. Add to that the opportunity to collaborate with talented and passionate people – how could I stay away?
Q. What’s the most important part of your role as Chief of Organizational Development? What part of your job are you most excited to dive into?
A. Great question! I think this position is a lynch pin – and my job has many facets. Most important is making connections at all levels of the organization – and learning what we do and what makes WJS great, both from a service delivery perspective and as an employer of choice.
Part of my role is to identify the challenges that may be preventing us from doing our very best work and how this impacts our funders and those we serve. Of course, identifying the challenges is just the beginning! Then we need to find the best ways to effectively overcome them.
I’m most excited by the prospect of aligning our technology solutions to drive efficiency and enhance end-user experience.
Q: What do you hope for WJS’s future?
A: Simply, I hope that we achieve all we can imagine. That we continue to strive to surpass expectations in everything we do. I think we need to be bold and find ways to do what others say can’t be done, and as a leader in the industry it is up to us to drive reform and transformation where-ever necessary.
Q: Tell us something we may not know about you.
A: Well, I have 3 amazing teens age 15, 16 and 17 and the baby of the family is our Goldendoodle, Lucy. Also, I was born in London, England but grew up all over Canada — in Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
Q: What’s the best way for staff to get in touch with you?
A: I have an open door policy — and as a member of the senior management team I am always available to staff as needed. Email me at idoyle@wjscanada.com or call my direct line 604.465.5515 Ext. 115.
