Westlock News

Hello to Everybody from Westlock, AB!

Just wanted to share a bit of the goings on from Westlock. It’s been a very busy summer with lots of events happening. We’ve already had a BBQ day at the park, with great weather and a great group of people. Everyone enjoyed the food and company. On June 21, we celebrated Aboriginal Day and learned a lot about traditional Indigenous ways.

On Canada Day we celebrated our first annual pancake breakfast. We invited another agency to join us as well and had great success. The breakfast was phenomenal: there were 3 different kinds of homemade pancakes, sausages, fruit, fruit syrup, and whipped cream. Despite the windy and cool morning, we had a great turn out and everybody enjoyed the camaraderie. This will be an awesome annual event for sure.

We went out to the lake on July 12, for a BBQ and fun day – it was a beautiful day. A great time was had by all taking in the full sunshine.

We have exciting plans for August! On the 16th, we will be holding a Fishing Derby and fun day out at Long Island Lake. There will be a BBQ, prizes for different fish categories, and crafts and games for those who don’t want to fish. Nobody will be left out.

Other planned events include a day at the beach with people in Slave Lake, dance night, and possible outdoor movie night.

The summer weather has been fantastic and everybody has been having tons of fun!
