Summertime and the living is easy … well, maybe not!
A message from the CEO
There is always a hope and dream that things will slow down in the summer. I think everyone has memories of playing in the backyard, reading books all day long or spending hours in the pool. At work, the pace is a little slower and it’s a good time to get caught up on those small tasks that we never seem to get to at other times of the year.
Recent changes within our senior team mean that the summer will continue to be busy and I wanted to provide you with an update on what’s been happening.
We currently have a posting out for a new Chief of Client Services, based in our Edmonton office. If you know of anyone who would be great for the role, be sure to send them the posting.
We are also taking time to consider the span of the Organizational Development role and assess our needs going forward. WJS Canada is blessed by having many staff who have stepped up to take on additional duties in both formal and informal ways. A big shout out to Barry Foo and Alex Hayer who have been working as a team to move forward the WJSource (SharePoint) project.
We are also moving forward with our mission, vision, and values work. There will be an opportunity for staff across WJS Canada to share stories about how our values show up in the workplace. If you have a story to share, please respond when your program supervisor asks for volunteers. We are hoping to interview 20-30 people from across WJS Canada before the middle of August. No written work needed, just a conversation with a writer who will write the story.
Our Regional Service Directors will continue to focus on our service delivery framework which is a central component to our quality strategy. Also, you will hear news in the fall about our performance management work.
You can see why there is no break this summer! I hope that everyone who is taking vacation time over the summer enjoys the sun and the pleasures of summer holidays. As always, I am deeply appreciative of everyone across WJS Canada who continue to strengthen lives every day.
