Think Pink!
Think Pink!
February 28th is Pink Shirt Day – a day to bring awareness to the issue of bullying – in our schools, workplaces, homes, and online. Pink Shirt Day began 11 years ago when two students in Nova Scotia bought and distributed 50 pink shirts after a male ninth grade student was bullied for wearing a pink shirt on the first day of school. We want to encourage everyone at WJS to participate in Pink Shirt Day. Some suggestions: wear pink – pink hair, pink shirts, pink nail polish, pink shoe laces; plan an office potluck or pizza party; commit a random act of kindness for a colleague, a friend, a stranger. Share your Pink Shirt Day activities with the entire WJS Community. Send us your pictures and stories and we’ll feature them in the March Staff Newsletter. The group that sends us the picture with the most staff members in pink will not only win a token of our appreciation but mondo bragging rights too. Since this year’s theme is Cyber-bullying, we’ll be featuring simple ways to be kind and create community on our Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter pages. They start today and will continue through to Pink Shirt Day. Take a moment to like, share, and follow too. Enjoy planning your Pink Shirt Day activities! We look forward to seeing your pictures and reading your stories!
